The American Muslim Society for Science, Engineering, and Medicine (AMSSEM) is a national initiative dedicated to uniting and empowering Muslim scientists, engineers, physicians, researchers, and students across the country. 

Founded by a student at Penn State and supported by a growing network of believers, AMSSEM exists to create what many of us have long sought: a space where faith and science coexist, where Muslim professionals are uplifted, and where the pursuit of 'ilm (knowledge) is recognized as an act of 'ibadah (worship).

AMSSEM is rooted in the belief that excellence in science and medicine is not just compatible with Islam, it is inspired by it. Our goal is to support Muslim minds through:

» Community: connecting students, professors, and professionals through a shared spiritual and intellectual foundation

» Mentorship: guiding undergraduates, premeds, and early-career researchers toward success with faith and clarity

» Collaboration: facilitating meaningful partnerships across labs, institutions, hospitals, and startups

» Purpose: reminding ourselves that our intellect is an amanah, and our work a service to Allah and His creation
